live-like-you-were-dying asked: I know that this is maybe an odd question, but do you have any tips for dealing with a jealous DS? She doesn't really like me, and the fact that I'm skinnier and faster at getting to the balls just makes her mad. Any advice? Thanks :)
I can try to give you advice, as this has somewhat happened to me.
The year I decided to be a libero, there were two of us since the other girl had been our only libero in past years. I can’t say I totally relate to your circumstances since I was not the skinnier one, although I was faster, and she was nothing but nice to me despite the competition between us.
If you were friends before she started to not like you, be kind and encourage her to become a better DS, maybe she can beat you someday that way. Even if you weren’t friends, I wouldn’t discourage her from competing for the position because then both of you have something to work for and you’ll have a reason to keep working out and getting stronger and faster. Maybe even give her tips, she’ll like you if you seem like you want to be her friend and help her. I mean unless you wanna totally smoke this girl and ruin her hopes and dreams, which I don’t really condone, but I’m not gonna crash through the ceiling of your practice and stop you from your dastardly deeds.
If you’re in high school, your coach will probably play her sometimes regardless of if you’re better.

I never played for a club team because it was super expensive and there was a travel team in my town that was free and also a really good level of competition.
